Chennai, March 29, 2026: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party founded by actor-turned-politician Vijay, is gearing up for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections with reports indicating that it has finalised or is set to announce a full list of candidates for all 234 constituencies. The party is contesting independently, without alliances, and has already named several prominent figures for key seats.

According to multiple sources and circulating lists, Adhav Arjuna, the party's election campaign management general secretary and a former Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader, is fielded from the Villivakkam constituency in Chennai. Adhav Arjuna, who joined TVK in early 2025 and has been actively involved in campaign strategy and outreach, is seen as a strong contender in the urban seat. Villivakkam has been a DMK stronghold, with the ruling party reportedly fielding Karthik Mohan, son of minister M.K. Mohan, to counter him.

In western Tamil Nadu, veteran politician and former AIADMK minister K.A. Sengottaiyan (a nine-time MLA) is expected to contest from Gobichettipalayam in Erode district — his traditional home turf. Sengottaiyan, who resigned as MLA and joined TVK in late 2025 after being expelled from AIADMK, serves as the party's high-level administrative committee chief coordinator. He brings significant experience from the Kongu region and has been vocal in pushing for Vijay as Chief Minister. His candidature is viewed as a major boost for TVK in consolidating support in AIADMK-leaning western districts.

TVK is also reportedly fielding other senior leaders in Chennai and elsewhere. These include N. Anand ("Bussy" Anand), general secretary, from T. Nagar; party treasurer P. Venkataraman from Mylapore; and others such as Arun Raj from Tiruchengode. The party has been conducting extensive candidate interviews under Vijay's direct involvement, with batches of names finalised in phases. Reports suggest the full or first batch of the Tamil Nadu candidate list could be formally unveiled soon, possibly as early as today (March 29), following similar announcements for Puducherry where TVK fielded candidates for all 30 seats.

A major point of speculation remains the constituency from which Vijay himself will contest. Party workers and leaders, including Adhav Arjuna, have urged him to enter the fray from Perambur in North Chennai, citing its developmental challenges and strong potential for grassroots mobilisation. Vijay is expected to kick off intensive campaigning in the region, covering seats like Perambur, Kolathur, Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, and Virugambakkam. Some reports indicate he may choose Perambur or another North Chennai seat to connect with urban and working-class voters. TVK has positioned Vijay as its Chief Ministerial candidate.

The developments come as Tamil Nadu's political landscape heats up ahead of the polls, with DMK having announced candidates for a large number of seats. TVK is banking on Vijay's massive fan following, youth appeal, and the induction of experienced leaders like Sengottaiyan and Adhav Arjuna to challenge established parties. The party has emphasised a "solo fight" strategy and claims to have built a strong booth-level network.

While these names appear consistently in party circles and media reports, TVK is yet to issue an official comprehensive list for Tamil Nadu. An announcement is widely anticipated shortly, which could clarify Vijay's own contesting seat and finalise other nominations.

Political observers note that TVK's aggressive candidate selection and independent stance could significantly impact the triangular contest dynamics in several constituencies, particularly in Chennai and the Kongu belt.
