Hubballi, January 8, 2026: Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Hubballi Metropolitan District unit, along with Bajrang Dal activists, staged a protest and submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar condemning the gruesome murder of Ranjita Banasode in Yallapur, Uttara Kannada district.

The incident, which occurred recently, involved Ranjita, a 30-year-old woman, being stabbed to death in public allegedly by Mohammad Rafiq after she refused his marriage proposal. Pro-Hindu organizations have described the case as an instance of targeted violence, sparking widespread outrage and calls for strict action. Reports indicate that the accused later committed suicide in a forest area while evading police.

Led by prominent leaders including Shri Mallikarjun Sattigeri (Dharma Pracharak), Metropolitan Secretary Chetan Rao, Co-Secretary Arun Prabhu, Metropolitan Bajrang Dal Convener Shri Prashant Naragund, Co-Convener Santosh Pant, and Chidananda Gummagol, along with other key workers from the Math, the group handed over the memorandum at the Tahsildar's office in Hubballi.

The memorandum demanded swift justice, stringent punishment under the law, and measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Participants, many wearing saffron scarves symbolizing Hindu unity, expressed strong condemnation of the crime and urged authorities to address rising concerns over women's safety.

The event remained peaceful, with activists emphasizing the need for communal harmony while calling for accountability. 

Local authorities accepted the memorandum and assured appropriate action in the ongoing investigation.
