The Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, through its Mother Nympha Adolescent Empowerment Program (AEP), inaugurated the Social Change Agents Forum (SCAF) and held its Annual Gathering on Tuesday at St. Michael School, Shantinagar, Hubli. The event brought together students and educators with a shared vision of fostering socially responsible and value-driven youth.
Rev. Sr. Gretta Sanjivini D’Souza, Provincial Superior of the Hubli Province, presided over the programme. Addressing the gathering, she urged students to grow as committed, responsible, and compassionate agents of change, emphasizing that meaningful transformation in society begins with individual responsibility and ethical living.
The chief guest, Dr. Isabella Xavier, Founder of Sadhana Women and Child Welfare Society and a noted human rights activist, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address. She highlighted the need for self-reflection as the foundation of social change and encouraged students to pursue their goals with clarity of purpose and strong moral conviction.
The programme witnessed the presence of several key members of the AEP leadership, including Sr. Dulcine Crasta, AEP Convener; Sr. Dimple D’Souza, Program Coordinator (AEP); Sr. Reena D’Souza, AEP Coordinator of Hubli Province; along with Sr. Milagrin and Sr. Lolita.
Nearly 90 students from five different schools, accompanied by their in-charge teachers, actively participated in the event. The students showcased their understanding of social issues through innovative models and videos, highlighting various social awareness and community service activities undertaken in their respective schools.
The student presentations were evaluated by Sr. Dulcine Crasta and Sr. Dimple D’Souza, who offered constructive feedback and guidance, motivating the participants to further strengthen their initiatives aimed at social transformation.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Sr. Sunita Pinto, while Mrs. Vijayalakshmi efficiently compered the event. The gathering concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation’s commitment to nurturing socially conscious, empowered, and value-based young leaders dedicated to positive change in society.
