Hyderabad, February 13, 2026 — Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today expressed profound gratitude to the voters of the state following the Congress party's decisive victory in the recently concluded municipal elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Chief Minister described the sweeping triumph as a strong endorsement of the Congress-led government's performance over the past two years. The elections covered 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, where Congress candidates secured commanding leads and wins across a majority of wards and bodies.

"The people's mandate reflects their approval of our people-centric governance," Revanth Reddy said. He highlighted the tireless efforts of lakhs of Congress workers who campaigned extensively and brought the government's welfare schemes directly to the grassroots level. The Chief Minister pledged to accelerate development initiatives across all urban local bodies, ensuring that welfare programs and infrastructure projects reach every corner of Telangana's towns and cities.

Results declared by the Telangana State Election Commission showed Congress surging ahead significantly. In ward-level counts, Congress captured over 1,300–1,400 wards (with figures climbing to around 1,392 in some updates), while the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) trailed in second place with approximately 700–723 wards, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured around 250–261 wards. Congress dominated by winning control of 64 municipalities, with BRS taking 13 and several others resulting in hung verdicts.

The polls, held on February 11 with a voter turnout exceeding 73%, marked the first major urban electoral test for the Congress government since it came to power in 2023. The outcome is seen as a boost for Revanth Reddy's leadership, demonstrating strong urban voter support amid the ruling party's focus on inclusive development, financial stabilization, and scheme implementation.

The victory celebrations erupted at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters in Hyderabad, where party workers cut cakes, burst firecrackers, and hailed the Chief Minister and state leadership. Senior Congress figures, including TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, echoed that the results affirmed public trust in the government's commitment to accountability and progress.

In a related development, Revanth Reddy met Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi, where she congratulated him on the impressive showing and credited the party's sustained campaign and connection with urban voters for the success.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the verdict rejects misleading propaganda and reinforces the path of stability and inclusive growth. He extended thanks to party leadership, including AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, for their guidance and support.

This municipal poll outcome strengthens Congress's position in Telangana ahead of future electoral battles, including potential Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls.
