P Wilson, a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha (TN), has raised a Bill to amend The National Medical Commission Act, 2019 and The National Dental Commission Act, 2023. The Bill has been listed before the Parliament on July 24, 2026 (Friday). "My Private Member Bill to abolish NEET in the Medical and Dental courses has been listed as serial number 16 on 24.7.2026 before the Parliament," Wilson tweeted.

He further stated that if "this Bill becomes law, then the States are at liberty to opt out of NEET and devise their own admission procedures for Dental and Medical courses."
Wilson stated that if the law comes into effect then "state governments will gain full authority and right to obtain exemption from the NEET exam and to formulate their own procedures for medical admissions in accordance with their needs and policies."
As per the post, Rajya Sabha MP Shri P. Wilson has sought permission ("move for leave") to introduce a Private Member's Bill titled 'The Medical Education Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026'. The proposed Bill seeks to amend two existing laws: The National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019 and The National Dental Commission (NDC) Act, 2023.

This comes at a time when people across the country are protesting against the NEET UG 2026 paper leak. On July 23, the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin, also accused the government of failing to achieve the three pricniples on which the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) was established.
In a tweet, he claimed that "NEET was introduced with three principal promises: (1) reduce the burden, (2) eliminate commercialisation, and (3) improve standards", but accused that the medical entrance exam has failed 'on every one of these counts". He further alleged that NEET "has merely shifted the centre of learning from schools to coaching centres."
