Hubballi, Dec. 9:
A massive protest was organised today in Hubballi by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, and Sri Rama Sene, demanding strict implementation of the ban on cow slaughter in Karnataka. Hundreds of activists participated in the demonstration, raising slogans for the protection of cows and calling for immediate government action.

The rally was led by Sri Rama Sene Founder Pramod Mutalik, who strongly criticised the Congress-led State Government for what he described as “negligence and failure” in enforcing the existing cow protection laws. He alleged that illegal cow slaughter and transportation have increased due to the government's lack of seriousness.

Mutalik also targeted the BJP-led Central Government in Delhi, stating that despite being in power, it has not enacted a uniform national law for cow protection. He urged national leaders to take stronger steps to safeguard cows across all states and demanded immediate intervention from the Home Ministry.

Key Demands of the Protesters:

Strict enforcement of the Karnataka cow slaughter ban

Crackdown on illegal cattle transportation and slaughterhouses

Formation of special task forces for cow protection

Fast-track courts for cow-related offences

More highway checkposts and surveillance

Stronger penalties for violators

Security was tightened across the protest area, with Hubli-Dharwad Police deploying additional personnel to maintain peace. Traffic diversions were put in place for a short duration due to the large gathering.

The leaders of VHP, Bajrang Dal, and Sri Rama Sene submitted a memorandum to the district administration, appealing for urgent action from both the State and Central Governments.

Authorities are expected to review the demands, though no official response has been issued yet.
