Prakhon Chai, Buriram Province, Thailand | March 5, 2026 — In a story that has shattered conventional ideas of marriage and ignited fierce online discussions, a 37-year-old Thai woman has tied the knot with two Austrian men — who happen to be lifelong best friends — in one elaborate traditional ceremony. Photos and videos from the wedding, showing the bride calmly seated between her two grooms under a single mandap, have exploded across social media, leaving netizens stunned and debating everything from love and consent to cultural norms.

The woman at the centre of this extraordinary union is Duangduan Ketsaro (also known as Gig), a former independent singer-songwriter from Prakhon Chai district in Thailand’s Buriram province. On February 28, she married Roman, a retired Austrian police officer, and Macky (also referred to as Mecky), a currently serving Austrian police officer, in a modest yet culturally rich ceremony attended only by close family, relatives, and friends.

The relationship began five years ago when Duangduan met Roman while working in Pattaya. Their bond grew strong. About a year ago, she was introduced to Macky — Roman’s closest friend — and a deep connection developed among the three. Instead of choosing one, they openly discussed their feelings, expectations, and future. What emerged was a consensual polyamorous relationship built entirely on honesty, transparency, mutual respect, and unwavering love. The trio decided they wanted to live together as one family unit.

In a striking visual that has gone massively viral, Duangduan sat in the middle on the wedding stage (mandap), with Roman and Macky comfortably seated on either side of her. The ceremony followed authentic Thai traditions, including the sacred Bai Sri Su Kwan blessing ritual and the symbolic wrist-tying ceremony meant to bring good fortune and bind the participants spiritually.

Each groom presented a traditional dowry of 1 million Thai Baht (approximately ₹29 lakh or £24,000) to the bride’s family, underscoring their serious commitment. After the rituals concluded, the two grooms joyfully jumped together into a nearby pond as part of the celebrations, splashing around in pure happiness while Duangduan watched with a smile.

What makes the story even more remarkable is the complete and enthusiastic support from Duangduan’s entire family. The mother of three daughters (and grandmother to two grandchildren from her previous marriage) had been open with her parents and children about the relationship from the beginning. After seeing how both Austrian men had emotionally and financially supported Duangduan and her family during tough times, her relatives gave their full blessing. Her mother was quoted saying, “I have seen my daughter struggle for years. Her happiness matters most to me.”

Duangduan herself addressed the boldness of her decision with a light-hearted quote that has also gone viral: “Marry one, nobody remembers… marry two at once, and they will!”

While the wedding was celebrated socially and culturally within their community, it is important to note that Thai civil law does not legally recognise polygamy or polyandry. Only one marriage can be officially registered; the second remains a symbolic and social commitment. The three plan to live together regardless.

The photos and short videos from the event spread like wildfire first on Thai social media, then globally — including massive shares in India where Telugu news portals and social media users picked up the story with dramatic headlines matching the teaser text provided. Reactions have been mixed: many express shock and curiosity (“How is this even possible?”), while others admire the honesty, family support, and courage to prioritise personal happiness over societal judgment.

This rare case has sparked broader conversations about evolving definitions of love, trust, consent, and non-traditional relationships in the modern world. It stands as a real-life example of people choosing unwavering mutual trust and love while completely setting aside fear of “what society will think.”

As the images continue to circulate and the story trends worldwide, Duangduan, Roman, and Macky appear unfazed — living proof that when love and trust are rock-solid, even the most unconventional paths can lead to happiness.

The Indian Railways-style bureaucratic drama of the previous story may have shocked employees, but this Thai tale has the entire internet asking: “Did the family really not stop her?” The answer, clearly, is no — they stood by her side.

(Photos of the wedding mandap scene, the wrist-tying ritual, and the post-ceremony pond celebration are now among the most-shared images online this week.)
