Maharashtra SIR Draft Voter List 2026 Released

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Draft Electoral Roll 2026 was issued by the Office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Maharashtra as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), on August 31, 2026. 

The publication has created much attention in the state as the official data revealed that from among 9,78,54,049 registered voters.The names of 2,06,88,487 citizens (21.14%) could not be included in the draft list. 

The State Chief Electoral Officer, S. Chockalingam has clarified that the names have not been permanently deleted. Instead, the names signify the cases in which the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were unable to get enumeration forms during the door-to-door verification.

Official Data Breakdown: The Draft Roll of Maharashtra SIR 2026 

As of before the Special Intensive Revision exercise, there were 9,78,54,049 registered voters in the state of Maharashtra.  

  • The number of voters retained in the Draft Roll: 7,71,65,562 (78.86%)   

  • The number of male voters: 3,95,89,905  

  • The number of female voters: 3,75,72,570  
  • The number of third gender voters: 3,087 
  • Unregistered voters: The number of forms unregistered: 2,06,88,487 (21.14%)  
  • Urban and semi-urban districts are the leading regions with uncollected forms due to high movement of population, tenant movement and closed houses during the verification process.

  • The most populated districts that have been experiencing the issues of unregistered forms are urban and semi–urban localities and increasing population movement, tenants changing homes, and the situation where houses remain locked during the verification process.

  • Reasons Behind the Exclusion of 2.06 Crore Names 
  • According to data from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) the entries that were excluded were classified into five broad administrative categories:

    • Permanently Shifted: 76.80 lakh (7.68 million) 

    • Absent /Untraceable: 75.52 lakh (7.55 million) 

    • Deceased: 34.81 lakh (3.48 million) 

    • Duplicate /Double Registration: 17.63 lakh (1.76 million)  Refusal to Submit the Form / Technical Issues: 2.23 lakh

  • According to official statistics, the 17.63 lakh entries of duplicate voters were annulled to prevent voters from being registered in multiple constituencies, while the 34.81 lakh dead voters were deleted due to routine maintenance of the electoral rolls. 

    The other 1.54 crore people whose names were deleted for the reasons of being absent or permanently moved can still reach out to apply for their reinstatement.

    How to Check Your Name in the Maharashtra Draft Voter List 2026

    You are able to confirm whether or not your name listed on the draft voters list or missing on the uncollected/ASDD list by using the official websites 

    Method 1: Online Search on ECI Voter Services Portal 

    • Go to the official ECI website: voters.eci.gov.in. 

    • Then click on the option Search in Electoral Roll.

    • Pick one of the options as stated below

    • Search by EPIC: Enter your 10-digit Voter ID (EPIC) Number, select the state of Maharashtra, and fill in the captcha correctly. 

    • Search by details: Enter your first name, age/date of birth, state, district, and Assembly constituency.

    • Search by mobile: Enter your registered mobile number and click on the login button. 

  • If you see your status as active, it means your name is included in the SIR Draft Roll.

    Method 2: Download PDF Electoral Roll (Polling Station Wise)

    • Visit the Download E-Roll page at voters.eci.gov.in or the CEO Maharashtra Portal.  

    • Choose your District and Assembly Constituency.  

    • Find your polling booth/station number and download the PDF.  

    • Search your EPIC number or name in the PDF using Ctrl + F.

  • Method 3: Verify Your Name on ASDD List

    If you used to vote, however, your name does not appear anywhere on the draft rolls, visit the official website of the District Collector/CEO Maharashtra and check the ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate) list to know the reason behind this.

    • Repercussions If Your Name Is Missing

    • From August 31, 2026 to September 30, 2026, the ECI will use a specific Claims and Objections Window. You can use voters.eci.gov.in or the official Voter Helpline app to submit forms through digital means: 

    • Form 6 (Inclusion of Name): If your name has not been included in the draft list, even if you are eligible to vote, or if you are a first-time voter turning 18 years on or before October 1, 2026, fill in this form. 

    • Form 7 (Objection / Deletion): Use this form if you wish to complain against the wrong entry or request for deletion. 

    • Form 8 (Correction of Entries): This form is to make any changes like changing the address, applying for a spelling correction, etc.
