Dharwad Pastors’ Delegation Meets Karnataka Chief Minister at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Submits Memorandum on Christian Community Issues
Belagavi, Karnataka: A delegation representing the Dharwad Pastors’ Fellowship met Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi and submitted a memorandum highlighting concerns affecting the Christian community in Karnataka.
The delegation was led by Dharwad Pastors’ Fellowship President Ps. Cedric Jacob and included Ps. Anil, Ps. Shivkumar, Ps. Sadanand, Ps. Richard Dandin, along with KPCC leader Mr. James Yama.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed concern over reported attacks on members of the Christian community and incidents involving churches in different parts of the state. They requested the state government to take effective measures to ensure the safety and security of Christians and places of worship and to take appropriate legal action against those responsible for acts of violence or intimidation.
The memorandum also focused on the need for greater support for Christian community infrastructure. The delegation requested the Karnataka Government to allocate adequate funds through the Minority Welfare Department for the construction and development of church community halls, burial grounds, and other essential community facilities. They stated that such support would contribute to the social and welfare needs of minority communities across the state.
As a gesture of respect and goodwill, the delegation presented a Holy Kannada Bible to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. According to those present, the Chief Minister respectfully stood up to receive the Bible, a gesture that was appreciated by the members of the delegation.
The meeting took place alongside the Belagavi Division-level Progress Review Meeting at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, where the Chief Minister reviewed key administrative priorities with senior officials. During the review, he issued important directions regarding drought management, drinking water supply, agriculture, infrastructure development, forest clearances, road works, the security of Muzrai temples, and the responsibilities of district administrations in ensuring effective governance.
The pastors’ delegation expressed hope that the government would give due consideration to the issues raised in the memorandum and take concrete steps to strengthen the protection and welfare of the Christian community while ensuring equal development opportunities for all sections of society.
