Days after Times Now Digital exposed a video showing a senior Delhi Police officer slapping a woman protester during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) agitation at Jantar Mantar, the officer has now been removed from the protest site. Additional DCP (North East) Sandeep Lamba has been asked to report back to his parent district and will no longer be deployed at Jantar Mantar, according to sources.

The transfer comes after the video of the assault triggered widespread outrage and demands for action. Lamba has been merely removed from the protest site. He continues to remain in service, and there has been no official announcement of an FIR, suspension, or departmental inquiry against him so far.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, appeared to show Sandeep Lamba striking a woman protester during clashes at the protest site. The visuals prompted sharp criticism over the use of force by police personnel, particularly against women demonstrators.
Hours after his action was captured on camera, without addressing the controversy, he told news agency IANS, "A stone hit my knee. My dress was torn. I suffered a blunt injury, and there is a crack."
Late-night clashes at Jantar Mantar protest
The action comes against the backdrop of the violent protests that erupted on July 20, when thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party, along with students, marched from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over recurring examination irregularities, including the NEET-UG paper leak.
The protests, which began at Jantar Mantar, drew students, opposition leaders, and activists demanding accountability in the education system.
Delhi Police have assured a thorough investigation into the violence.
Security has meanwhile been significantly strengthened across the affected areas to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation of the situation.
Fresh clashes were also reported on Wednesday night, during which a Delhi Police officer sustained injuries after a group of miscreants allegedly attacked police personnel with stones and bottles, officials said.
According to Delhi Police, the incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. near Tolstoy Marg in the Connaught Place area, where some miscreants allegedly pelted stones and hurled bottles at security personnel. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Connaught Place, Vivek Bhagat, was injured in the attack.
