Chennai, June 8:
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government’s flagship initiative aimed at strengthening women’s safety, the ‘Singappen’ Special Task Force, is set to be launched on June 9, according to latest information.
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay is expected to inaugurate the special force at the Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai. The project is designed to enhance security measures for women across the state through a dedicated and rapid-response police unit.
The launch event was initially scheduled for May but was called off due to various reasons, even as preparations at the venue were in full swing at the time.
Notably, the inauguration has been postponed twice already. With fresh arrangements now underway at the Egmore stadium, officials indicate that the government is determined to roll out the initiative as planned on June 9.
The ‘Singappen’ Special Task Force is seen as a key step by the new government to prioritize women’s safety and law enforcement responsiveness in Tamil Nadu.
