Hubli, September 21, 2025 – In a decisive action to safeguard the sanctity of Hindu dharma and prevent the exploitation of vulnerable communities, dedicated activists from Bajrang Dal stormed into an ongoing illicit religious conversion event in Maruti Nagar, Kusugal village, near Hubli, today. The timely intervention by Bajrang Dal workers has successfully thwarted what appears to be a systematic attempt to lure impoverished Hindus into abandoning their faith through false promises of financial aid.

Eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations by Bajrang Dal reveal that the conversion drive was targeting a group of local Hindus, predominantly from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The perpetrators were employing deceptive methods, offering monetary incentives and material support as bait to coerce participants into renouncing Hinduism. Such tactics not only violate the principles of free will but also contravene the spirit of India's constitutional framework, which upholds religious freedom without inducement or force. Bajrang Dal strongly condemns these predatory practices, which prey on the desperation of the poor and undermine the cultural fabric of our nation.

Leading the charge were prominent Bajrang Dal leaders, including State Co-Convener Shivananad Sattigeri, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Mallikarjun Sattigeri, Hubli City Convener Prashant Naragund, and a robust contingent of grassroots activists such as Santosh, Dharmaraj, Shankar, Sai Halavaru, and numerous other committed karyakartas.

Their swift response, fueled by unwavering vigilance and community intelligence, ensured that the event was dismantled on the spot, preventing any irreversible harm to the families involved.

"This is not an isolated incident but part of a larger conspiracy to erode Hindu identity through economic blackmail," stated Shivananad Sattigeri, Bajrang Dal State Co-Convener. "Our activists acted with the sole intent of protecting our brothers and sisters from such manipulations.

We urge the local authorities to launch a thorough probe, register FIRs against those orchestrating these conversions, and enforce stringent anti-conversion laws to deter future attempts."
Mallikarjun Sattigeri, representing VHP, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing, "Hinduism teaches us compassion and self-reliance, not dependency on external lures. Events like this highlight the urgent need for community awareness

programs to empower our people against such divisive agendas. Bajrang Dal and VHP stand united in this noble cause."

Prashant Naragund, Hubli City Convener, added, "The presence of our karyakartas on the ground made all the difference. We will continue our patrols and educational drives in vulnerable areas to root out these threats at their source."

Bajrang Dal reaffirms its commitment to non-violent vigilance, lawful interventions, and the promotion of Hindu unity. The organization calls upon the district administration, police, and state government to:
Immediately investigate the individuals and groups behind this conversion attempt, including tracing the sources of the promised financial aid.
Provide rehabilitation and support to the affected Hindu families to ensure their
economic stability without compromise to their faith.

Strengthen enforcement of anti-forced conversion legislation across Karnataka to prevent recurrence.

The local Christian community, represented by the Hubli-Dharwad  Pastors And Leaders  and concerned faith leaders, vehemently rejects the malicious accusations leveled by Bajrang Dal activists regarding an alleged "forced religious conversion" event in Maruti Nagar, Kusugal village. What Bajrang Dal has portrayed as a sinister plot was, in reality, a peaceful community welfare gathering focused on providing humanitarian aid, prayer support, and educational resources to underprivileged families, irrespective of their religious affiliations. This incident exemplifies yet another instance of targeted harassment against minority communities, aimed at sowing discord and spreading misinformation for political gain.

Eyewitnesses from the Christian community and neutral observers confirm that the event was a voluntary outreach program organized by local church volunteers to distribute essential supplies, offer health check-ups, and conduct Bible study sessions open to all interested participants. No coercion, financial inducements, or pressure to convert was involved. Participants, including several Hindu families, attended of their own accord, drawn by the genuine spirit of service and compassion that defines Christian outreach. Claims of "luring Hindus with money" are fabricated and unsubstantiated, designed to vilify our peaceful activities and infringe upon our constitutional right to practice and propagate faith as enshrined in Article 25 of the Indian Constitution.

The unwarranted intrusion by Bajrang Dal activists, led by figures such as State Co-Convener Shivananad Sattigeri, VHP's Mallikarjun Sattigeri, Hubli City Convener Prashant Naragund, and others including Santosh, Dharmaraj, Shankar, Sai Halavaru, not only disrupted a lawful assembly but also intimidated vulnerable attendees, including women and children. Such mob-like tactics pose a grave threat to social harmony and violate the rule of law. The Christian community stands firm in its commitment to non-violence and interfaith dialogue, and we refuse to be cowed by fringe elements promoting hate.

Speaking on behalf  of   Hubli-Dharwad  Pastors and leaders Rev . S . G Peter
, stated: "These allegations are a blatant distortion of facts, rooted in prejudice rather than truth. Our church has been serving the poor in Kusugal for decades through legitimate charitable work, without any agenda of conversion. Bajrang Dal's actions today were nothing short of vigilantism, and we demand that the authorities hold them accountable for disturbing the peace."and

a local community leader involved in the event, added: "We invited people from all backgrounds to join us in prayer and support. No one was forced or bribed— that's against our faith's teachings of free will and love. This is an attack on our right to exist and serve, and it must not go unchallenged."

The Christian community urges the district administration, Karnataka State Police, and human rights bodies to:

1. Conduct an impartial inquiry into the Bajrang Dal's disruptive intervention, including registering cases for unlawful assembly and intimidation under relevant IPC sections.
2. Protect minority rights and ensure safe spaces for religious and welfare activities without fear of mob interference.
3. Promote inter-community dialogues to counter divisive narratives and foster unity in diversity.

We remain dedicated to upholding values of peace, service, and brotherhood, and call upon all right-thinking citizens to reject hate-mongering and support constitutional secularism. Let this be a moment for reflection on the dangers of misinformation and the importance of verified facts over rumor.
