APCLF Condemns Pastor Abhinay Darshan Over Alleged Fake Attack Drama, Demands Strict Legal Action
Visakhapatnam, May 19, 2026: The Andhra Pradesh Christian Leaders Forum (APCLF) has strongly condemned Pastor Abhinay Darshan following allegations that he staged a fake murder attempt in Andhra Pradesh’s tribal region to gain publicity and create communal tension.
In a press note issued on Monday, APCLF described the incident as a “shocking and irresponsible act” that has damaged the credibility of genuine Christian ministries and social service organizations working across the state. The forum also called for stringent police action and exemplary legal proceedings against all those allegedly involved in the conspiracy.
According to the statement, Pastor Abhinay Darshan, who reportedly identifies himself as a Christian evangelist and leader of the so-called “Citizen Protection Force,” allegedly orchestrated the fake attack on May 18, 2026, at Niruthotapalem village in Chintapalli Mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju district.
APCLF stated that the incident initially created panic among local residents and sections of the Christian community, especially in the sensitive tribal belt where religious and social tensions have occasionally surfaced in recent years. Videos and messages related to the alleged attack reportedly spread rapidly on social media, triggering concern and confusion among the public.
However, the forum praised the swift investigation conducted by the district police under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar. According to APCLF, the police investigation exposed the alleged attack as a fabricated drama and confirmed that no real murder attempt had taken place.
The organization further stated that Pastor Abhinay Darshan has reportedly been arrested for allegedly staging the incident. APCLF noted that such actions not only waste valuable police resources but also harm communal harmony and misuse the constitutional freedom of religion for personal publicity and influence.
In its statement, the Christian forum demanded that authorities invoke strict legal provisions, including charges related to cheating, spreading misinformation, creating public mischief, and misleading law enforcement agencies. The group also urged the Andhra Pradesh government to conduct a detailed investigation into whether any wider network or external support was involved in planning the alleged hoax.
“Fraudulent acts carried out in the name of religion bring disrepute to the entire Christian community and weaken public trust in genuine faith-based service,” the statement said. “The Christian community of Andhra Pradesh stands for peace, integrity, and service to society, and such misleading elements should be isolated and condemned.”
APCLF Chairman Oliver Rayi appealed to pastors, church leaders, and believers across the state to remain vigilant and avoid supporting individuals who attempt to exploit religious sentiments for personal or political gain. He also urged social media users to verify facts before sharing sensitive content that could disturb communal harmony.
The incident has sparked wider discussions in Andhra Pradesh over the misuse of social media narratives, fake hate-crime claims, and the growing challenge faced by law enforcement agencies in tackling misinformation-related incidents. Political observers believe the case could lead to stricter scrutiny of provocative online content and fabricated communal narratives in sensitive regions of the state.
