Bengaluru, April 14, 2026: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary was celebrated with great reverence in Doddanagamangala area of Rajarajeshwari Nagar, under Bengaluru South Assembly constituency.
The event was organized by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mahila MakkaLa Rakshana Vedike Dharmika mattu Charitable Trust. The programme was held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, coinciding with the nationwide celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti. April 14 is observed as a public holiday across India in honour of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow (Madhya Pradesh), was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to fighting untouchability, social inequality, and discrimination. He played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution of India and is widely revered as the champion of Dalits, women, and labourers’ rights.
The local event saw enthusiastic participation from residents of Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Sri. Vasanthanna, a prominent Congress leader and known as “Badavara Bandhu” (friend of the poor) and a strong voice for the Dalit and oppressed communities of Doddanagamangala village, actively participated in the programme. He addressed the gathering and explained Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts, ideals, and the importance of the Indian Constitution to the local villagers in a simple and effective manner.
The entire programme was held under the able leadership of Smt. Geetha P., Founder and State President of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Mahila MakkaLa Rakshana Vedike Dharmika mattu Charitable Trust. She guided the event with dedication, ensuring it reflected the spirit of Ambedkar’s vision of equality and social justice.
The celebration served as a reminder of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s inspiring life and his lifelong struggle for social equality, constitutional values, and the upliftment of marginalized sections of society. Residents from all sections of Rajarajeshwari Nagar came together to pay tribute to the great leader on his 135th birth anniversary.
