Always stood by CM, will continue to do so in future, says Dy CM Shivakumar

My strength is all 139 MLAs, including Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah is with me 100%. There should be no confusion. We are marching in that direction and will continue to do so in the future," he said, urging the public and media not to entertain doubts about the government's stability.

Bengaluru, February 2, 2026 (PTI) — Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday firmly dismissed speculations of any power tussle within the ruling Congress, asserting his unwavering support for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and emphasizing unity in the state government.

Speaking to reporters and addressing concerns raised in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Shivakumar stated, "I have always stood by the Chief Minister and will continue to do so in the future." He highlighted his solidarity during past crises, adding, "He (Siddaramaiah) will also stand by me."

The Deputy CM sought to put an end to ongoing rumors of internal discord, which have periodically surfaced due to a reported 2023 power-sharing arrangement between the two leaders following the Congress' victory in the state elections. Shivakumar stressed that the entire Congress Legislature Party (CLP), comprising 139 MLAs including Siddaramaiah, remains united behind the Chief Minister.

"My strength is all 139 MLAs, including Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah is with me 100%. There should be no confusion. We are marching in that direction and will continue to do so in the future," he said, urging the public and media not to entertain doubts about the government's stability.

The statement came amid opposition taunts, including from BJP leaders, questioning the dynamics between the CM and his deputy. Shivakumar responded by reaffirming their mutual trust and commitment to delivering on the party's promises to the people of Karnataka.

This show of solidarity follows recent meetings and interactions between the two leaders, aimed at projecting a cohesive front as the government approaches key policy decisions and prepares for future challenges.

Political observers note that such public affirmations help counter narratives of factionalism within the state unit of the Congress, which remains one of the party's strongest in the country.
