Bengaluru, August 4, 2025 – In a historic moment for the Church of South India (CSI), Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar was consecrated as the Bishop of the Karnataka Central Diocese on August 4, 2025, at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Bengaluru. The solemn and vibrant ceremony marked a new chapter in the diocese’s journey, with Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar stepping into the role of spiritual leader for one of South India’s prominent dioceses.
The consecration service was led by the Most Rev. Dr. K. Reuben Mark, Moderator of the CSI Synod, who officiated the ceremony with grace and reverence. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Karnataka’s Home Minister, Dr. G. Parameshwara, who attended to offer his congratulations and support. The CSI General Secretary, Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, presented the election certificate to Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar, acknowledging his appointment as Bishop-Designate, a position announced earlier by the CSI Synod.
Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar has been a dedicated servant of the Church, known for his theological insight, pastoral care, and leadership within the Karnataka Central Diocese. A graduate of the Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in Korea, he has served in various capacities, including as Diocesan Secretary, convener of the Ministerial Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Management at Bishop Cotton Girls’ School. His contributions to the diocese have included leading significant events such as the Diocesan Colloquium in 2022 and invoking blessings at key gatherings like the 2020 Graduation Ceremony of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School.
During the consecration, Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja was honored with a shawl by Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar and diocesan officers, recognizing his exemplary service to justice and the Church. The ceremony also saw heartfelt congratulations from prominent figures, including KJ George, who praised the new bishop’s journey of dedicated service and spiritual leadership.
